Thank you for joining me on the Summer Reset diet! A “Diet” is a misnomer. This is a program that gives your gut a much needed rest from unintended food triggers that result in bloating and discomfort. You would be surprised at how many foods can actually disrupt the gut – even if you think you are eating healthy. After researching the evidence and spending years working with patients who have food sensitivities, intolerances, bloating, and IBS, I decided to put together a shorter version of this program that can be helpful for anyone looking to give their gut a break and reduce bloat – just in time for the summer.

I’m so happy that you are taking the steps to nurture your body and trusting me to guide you in the process.

Here is Day 1, to get you started:

For the best results

This 5 day program is designed to give your gut a quick reset and reduce bloating, and is also very hydrating which can help to give your skin a summer glow. To maximize results:

  • Stay hydrated with 6-8 glasses of water a day

  • Avoid carbonated beverages

  • No alcohol

  • No chewing gum

  • Limit caffeine intake to 120g per day or less – ideally not all at once and discontinue caffeine after 12pm to assure adequate sleep.

  • Go to bed at the same time each night and aim for at least 7 hours of sleep

  • Eat your last meal by 7pm and try not to have your first meal until 9am (this adds 14 hours of easy intermittent fasting to the program)

  • Walk after each meal for at least 15 minutes (this helps to move any gas out of your gut and helps with digestion)

It’s not just about the food choices, it’s also about the quality.

Opt for organic, locally grown and sourced foods. Look for labels that clearly state USDA organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, American Grassfed Association Certified, Marine Stewardship Council.

Healthy Kitchen Tips while cooking to optimize nutrition and avoid microplastics

  1. Cook in cast iron to increase the iron content in your food. You can get up to 75% of your daily recommended iron intake

  2. Use a wooden cutting board and utensils

  3. Store items in glass tupperware
